Sinopse: A história gira em torno do detetive Sam Tyler que trabalha para a policia de Los Angeles. Durante uma investigacao sobre um serial killer, Sam deixa sua namorada, Maya Robertson que tambem eh detetive investigar o caso sozinha. Algo completamente inesperado acontece e ela desaparece. Ele por sua vez, devastado e em choque acaba sendo atingido por um carro, e vai parar em 1972 sem nenhum ferimento… e ainda trabalhando para a policia de Los Angeles. Agora ele enfrenta a dificuldade em se integrar e ajustar a este novo mundo, sem as atitudes e tecnologias dos tempos atuais.
